Overview

At the verge of new millennium, Engineering and Technology faculty was introduced in JUST, under which department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME) was the third to start. After its inception in 2009, this department rose rapidly as a center of excellence in engineering field. This department offers dynamic field of study and research, which will help to prepare a student to become one of tomorrow's leaders. Our vibrant undergraduate and postgraduate programs provide a broad knowledge of theoretical and empirical aspects of engineering and technology. In its ten years journey, this department has established close cooperation with various Universities and Research Centers in home and abroad. The department has also conducted several national and international seminars, workshops and conferences.

It has also recently successfully conducted UGC, HEQEP, & JUST Research Center funded projects. Presently several projects are running which are supported by UGC, HEQEP. Using these projects fund department has built up enriched two sophisticated laboratories. Very recently,  PME  department  has  been  honored  by  being  selected  as  one  of  the  eight departments in the first phase of the University under Institutional Quality Assessment Cell. Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering offered the degrees are as: B.Sc. (Engg.); MS; M.Phil. and Ph.D. It is the leading educational department in its field which brings together cross-disciplinary, world class researchers to meet the wide range of challenges faced as petroleum and mining industries grows to meet global demands. Dept. of PME has its own some laboratories to conduct different subject oriented experiments & research. Graduates have special services in different national and international petroleum production and distribution companies (BAPEX, BGFCL, SGFCL, etc) as well as in mining industries (e.g., Coal mining, Hard-rock mining) in Bangladesh.  Graduates have multi diversities scope to enroll in National and International natural resources related research and service center. Moreover, the graduates have multidimensional scope in conducting higher study in many countries in the world.
